Who can take out travel insurance?

The travel insurance can be taken out by persons aged 18 to 74 who reside in Germany and are also holders of a BBVA current account with a debit card.

How much does travel insurance cost?

The cost depends on the chosen plan (Standard or Premium), the destination, the duration of the trip, and the number of insured persons. The final price will be displayed after you have entered the above-mentioned information during the purchase process.

How long is the travel insurance valid for?

The insurance coverage begins on the departure date for the Standard plan, and for the Premium plan, upon conclusion of the contract. In both versions, insurance coverage ends no later than the return date. Trips lasting longer than 31 consecutive days are generally not covered. Such exceptional cases require the express written consent of Chubb.

Are there any additional benefits to taking out travel insurance through BBVA?

Yes, when you take out travel insurance through BBVA, you receive 5% cashback on all purchases you make with your BBVA debit card (physical or digital) during your trip. The cashback is limited to the first €300 of your spending. For this reason, you can receive a maximum refund of up to €15.

Can I cancel my travel insurance after I've purchased it?

Yes, you have the right to cancel your travel insurance (with the Standard and Premium plans) within 14 days of concluding the insurance contract. This can be done via the BBVA App or the BBVA website, among other options. The paid premium will be refunded to your BBVA account (original payment method).

Are there any countries that are not covered by travel insurance?

Chubb's travel insurance does not cover the following countries: Iran, Syria, Cuba, North Korea, North Sudan, Crimea, Venezuela, Myanmar, Russia, Belarus, the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in Ukraine. The insurer cannot provide insurance coverage or benefits if they would violate international sanctions, prohibitions or trade restrictions (e.g., those of the UN, the EU, or the USA).
