Lukas has moved to France for 8 weeks for a work project. He primarily paid with cash, whether it was for excursions, museum entrance fees, tips or daily errands.
Every week he withdrew €150 in cash from local ATMs. Many banks charge their own fees for withdrawals made abroad. That can quickly add up to €5 per withdrawal. Eight withdrawals during his stay would amount to €40.
With BBVA, withdrawals made with the debit card at Mastercard ATMs in other EU countries are free of charge for amounts of €150 or more. Because this is exactly where Lukas withdrew money from, he didn't have to pay a fee for any of his withdrawals and saved €40 during his trip.
