BBVA has taken another step toward becoming the bank of the future: In Germany and Italy, the first native BBVA app within ChatGPT is now available. With this launch, BBVA underscores its commitment to testing new technologies early on and using artificial intelligence in a targeted manner to make access to financial information easier and more intuitive.
Back in December, BBVA in Milan introduced the concept of an app that was directly integrated into ChatGPT. Now the vision is becoming reality: For the first time, users can experience BBVA directly within OpenAI's AI-powered chat assistant.
Banking that's as simple as a conversation
For many people, ChatGPT has become one of the most important channels for finding information in their day-to-day lives. This is exactly where BBVA comes in: The new app makes it possible to obtain information about the bank's products and services by answering simple questions in natural language, without traditional navigation, menus or lengthy search processes.
In its current version, the App answers questions about, among other things:
- Terms and conditions for the free current account
- Terms and conditions for the free debit card used for savings and investment products
- BBVA promotions and benefits
This demonstrates how BBVA can make banking information more accessible, understandable and dialogue-oriented in the future.
Use the App directly in ChatGPT
From an information service to a digital companion
The version that has just been launched was deliberately designed as a first step. Over the long term, the plan is to develop the ChatGPT app so that it becomes a digital companion, helping users with important financial decisions, making complex topics understandable, and providing guidance at crucial moments.

The ChatGPT app is part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between BBVA and OpenAI. The goal of this alliance is to fundamentally improve the customer experience through the responsible use of artificial intelligence, while simultaneously making internal processes more efficient.
While providing innovations externally, BBVA is also using AI internally: More than 11,000 employees already use ChatGPT Enterprise to increase productivity and accelerate the pace of innovation. The long-term goal is to expand the use of this technology to the entire organization.
Another step into the future of banking
With the native ChatGPT app, BBVA Germany and BBVA Italy are once again positioning themselves at the forefront of digital innovation in the European banking sector. The launch demonstrates how financial services will become more aligned with people's habits in the future, as they will be dialogue-oriented, intelligent and more a part of everyday life.
The availability and further development of the app also depends on OpenAI's next steps, especially with regard to expanding the app ecosystem in Europe. Until then, BBVA will specifically use this innovation to inform, learn and test new forms of digital interaction.
