More security for your transfers

We've improved your BBVA account's security with two new features to help you make your transactions even more secure.

Recipient verification

Before you confirm your transfer, we compare the recipient's name in real time with the information you provided. If everything is correct, your transfer will be processed as usual.

  1. Slight deviation: You will receive a notification message to confirm the information.
  2. No match: You will be notified that the account holder's name does not match the name you entered.
  3. Comparison not possible: The recipient name verification could not be completed.

Why do we do this?
To help you avoid input errors or possible fraud attempts. One more check, one less worry!

Individually adjustable transfer limits

From now on you can use both your daily limit and your limit per transaction – or set it to zero if you don't make any transfers. This way you reduce the risk of unauthorized transactions and retain full control over your account. 
Manage your transfer limits directly in the BBVA App:

  • Daily limit: max. €20,000
  • Limit per standard transfer: max. €20,000
  • Limit per instant transfer: max. €5,000

For maximum security, every change is verified using biometric authentication (e.g. Face ID or fingerprint) or SMS code.

For security reasons, the increase is not activated automatically.

No, they are completely free – because at BBVA, your security is our top priority.

What happens if I lower my daily limit?

If your daily limit is lower than the per-transfer limit, it will be adjusted automatically. 

Can I set the limits to 0?

Yes, that's no problem at all.

Can I make standard transfers over €20,000?
