Investment fraud

If you are asked to make a transfer: Stop!

Many investment scams begin with an advertisement, a phone call, or a message that appears legitimate. The goal is to pressure you into making transfers outside of official BBVA channels.

Recognize the warning signs

Be suspicious, even if only one of these situations occurs:
  • Time pressure. Messages like "today only" or "decide now."
  • Unrealistic promises. Very high profits or statements like "no risk."
  • Unofficial channels. Being contacted via text message, from unknown numbers or via suspicious links.
  • Transfers. Requests to send money to "activate" or "unlock" credits. Remember: If you are asked to send money to retrieve your current capital, then it's a trap!

What you should do before every transaction

Follow these simple steps to ensure better security:
  • Always check the offer via BBVA's official channels.
  • Do not make any transfers if you are not in a verified digital environment.
  • Cut off all contact if something seems suspicious to you, and calmly assess the situation.

What BBVA will NEVER ask you

  • For your full login credentials or text message codes.
  • To take urgent action via chat or an unsolicited text message.
  • To make transfers to "unlock" benefits or easy and guaranteed profits.

If we call you, you can check this in the App

In order to be sure that a call is really from BBVA, check it directly in the BBVA App.

Here's how it works:

  1. Tap "Contact" in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Open “My Messages.”
  3. There you will see a message that says: "Security notice: BBVA Customer Service is currently calling the phone number linked to your BBVA account."
